WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's basketball team will host nationally ranked No. 7/7 Xavier for its annual NCAA Pack the House Challenge game at Charles E. Smith Center Wednesday at 7:00 pm. The Musketeers are the highest-ranked opponent to visit Smith Center since No. 6/7 Rutgers in Nov. 2007.

This marks the fourth straight season GW has hosted a Pack the House game and second time Xavier has been the opponent. The Colonials have averaged nearly 2,100 fans for Pack the House games the past three years (2007 - 2,002 vs. Temple; 2008 - 3,689 vs. Xavier; 2009 - 589 vs. Villanova), all GW victories.

GW (5-15, 2-5 A-10) saw its two-game win streak snapped with a 63-47 loss at Saint Joseph's Saturday. The Colonials briefly took a one-point lead just over two minutes into the second half, but Hawks' reserve Brittany Ford scored 19 of her 23 points over the final 16 minutes to lift SJU in the 50th all-time meeting between the teams. Sophomore Tiana Myers scored 17 points for the second straight game to pace GW.

The Colonials will be reduced to seven players Wednesday against Xavier as sophomore Kay-Kay Allums has been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules.

Despite losing the last two meetings and three of the last five overall, GW has won 11-of-12 all-time meetings against Xavier at Smith Center, including a streak of 10 consecutive home wins dating back to the 1998-99 season. This is the fifth straight meeting in which either GW or Xavier has been nationally ranked. Last February, No. 21/19 XU hit 14 three-pointers to roll to an 82-62 win in a game that featured a 20-minute power outage at Cintas Center.

Xavier (16-3, 6-0 A-10) has won seven straight games to climb to a program-best No. 7 ranking in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today Top 25, the highest ranking for an Atlantic 10 team since GW peaked at No. 8 in the AP Top 25 during the 2006-07 season.

The Musketeers remained unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play with a 74-49 victory over Dayton Saturday night behind double-doubles from starting frontcourt tandem Amber Harris and Ta'Shia Phillips. Harris led the way with 19 points and 14 rebounds, followed by 16 points and 15 rebounds from Phillips. Freshman Katie Rutan hit 5-of-6 three-pointers en route to 16 points to earn her third A-10 Rookie of the Week award of the season.

Harris (14.6 ppg, 8.9 rpg) and Phillips (13.9, 9.6), both of whom appear on the Naismith Award Watch List, combine for 28.5 points and 18.5 rebounds per game for the A-10 leading Musketeers. Harris, who missed all of the 2008-09 season with a knee injury, led Xavier to back-to-back A-10 Championships in 2007 and 2008, averaging 15.8 points over those two seasons. Phillips, last year's A-10 Player of the Year, averaged a double-double in each of her first two seasons.
