Jessica Adair Wins Second A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week Award

Feb. 5, 2006

WASHINGTON, DC - Colonials' freshman center Jessica Adair (Washington, DC/Anacostia) was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week the conference has announced. This is Adair's second such honor and her twin-sister Jazmine also won the award earlier this season.

Adair averaged seven rebounds and 13.5 points per game shooting an incredible 76.5% this week in games at Richmond and at Xavier. GW defeated Richmond 70-59 last Sunday and lost at Xavier on Friday, 67-62. In the Colonials last home game against Fordham, Adair was just one rebound shy of her first-ever career double-double.

While she has not yet started a game, she started the second half of both of this week's games and played a career-high 24 minutes at Richmond. Versus the Spiders, Adair scored a career-high 14 points and snatched three steals while blocking a shot. Adair was dominant offensively going 6-6 in the first half from the field and finishing 7-10.

In GW's loss at Xavier, Adair went six of seven from the field and finished with 13 points. She tied the team high in points and rebounds with seven and had a block. Over the last three games Adair is averaging 12.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

The Colonials (14-6, 7-2) are tied with No. 20 Temple, who they beat by 17-points, for second place in the Atlantic 10. GW has won 12 of its last 15 games and is currently No. 27 in both national polls, earning a No. 25 ranking in both polls earlier this season.

The Colonials have won the next game following a loss each time this season. GW plays Saint Louis for the first-ever time on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. The Colonials are currently riding a nine game home winning streak and have not lost at Smith Center since then-No. 1 Tennessee came to town on December 7, 2005.
