NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington women's basketball freshman forward Neila Luma has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

It marks the first conference honor of Luma's career and the second time this season that a GW player has garnered a weekly award (Kelli Prange, Player of the Week on Jan. 29).

Luma averaged a double-double, including a career-high rebounding performance on Saturday, to help GW to a perfect 2-0 week with key wins over Massachusetts and Saint Louis.

She started her week against Massachusetts on Wednesday and finished with eight points, 11 rebounds and three assists. In Saturday's win against Saint Louis she recorded a monster double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds (career-high), hitting 5-of-7 field goals, along with one assist and one block.

For the week she shot 60 percent from the field while averaging 11.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

GW returns to action on Tuesday night in the final road game of the regular season at Saint Joseph's (7 p.m.).
