Women's Hoops to Celebrate Senior Day on Saturday vs. Richmond

Feb. 23, 2018

TIPPING OFF: The George Washington women's basketball team will host Richmond on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day in its regular-season finale with Atlantic 10 Championship seeding implications on the line. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. with the Senior Day ceremony slated for 1:50 p.m.

SENIOR SENDOFF: Saturday will mark the final regular-season home game for the senior class of Taylor Campbell, Brianna Cummings, Kelli Prange and Camila Tapias.

Cummings, Prange and Tapias have contributed to 90 wins over the past four seasons, including two Atlantic 10 Tournament Championships, three A-10 regular-season titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

LAST TIME OUT: GW turned in yet another stingy defensive effort in a 49-46 win over Saint Joseph's on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. Cummings and Tapias led the way on offense with each scoring 11 points. The Colonials turned away a fourth-quarter rally to secure the win.

NOTABLE: GW's win against Saint Joseph's tied the all-time series at 30-30, which means the Colonials now boast .500 or better records against all 13 of its Atlantic 10 opponents.

HOT IN FEBRUARY: GW is playing its best basketball of the season heading into Saturday's game. The Colonials have won three games in a row and six of their last seven, dating back to Feb. 1.

GET DEFENSIVE: Tuesday's game was the ninth time this season that GW has held the opposition to less than 50 points. The Colonials are undefeated in such scenarios and also boast a 12-1 record this season when holding opponents below 40 percent shooting from the field, as they did against the Hawks (.375).

MILESTONE WATCH: Cummings has the chance to make history on Saturday against the Spiders. She needs just eight points to get to 1,000 for her career. She would be the second Colonial to accomplish the feat this season after teammate Kelli Prange did it against Massachusetts on Feb. 14. Cummings will become the 35th member of GW's 1,000-point club.

STANDINGS CHECK: GW enters the final game of the regular season with a 10-5 conference record and tied with George Mason for fourth place in the A-10 standings. GW owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Patriots after winning both meetings this season. The Colonials also hold the tiebreaker over Saint Joseph's, which sits just behind GW and George Mason at 9-6. GW can secure the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship with an outright win over Richmond. The full Atlantic 10 standings are available here.

SERIES HISTORY: GW is 25-10 in the all-time series against Richmond and has won the last seven games in a row. The Colonials are also 11-5 in games played at the Charles E. Smith Center.

The Colonials faced the Spiders in last season's regular-season finale in Richmond and used a staunch defensive effort to come away with a 63-44 win.
