PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Colonials (18-7, 11-3) travel to No. 17 Temple (20-6, 11-3) to play tonight at 7:00 p.m. for second place in the Atlantic 10. While the teams are tied for the second slot in conference play, GW defeated Temple by 17 points, 58-41, when they met at Smith Center on January 11. Both teams trail Charlotte (19-6, 12-2) by a game with the Colonials hosting the 49ers at Smith Center on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for the first-ever meeting between the teams.
The key for the Colonials in the last time they faced the Owls was the play of Jazmine Adair who came off of the bench to record her first-ever double-double en route to earning her first Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week award. Adair scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds but more importantly was a defensive force with three blocks and steal.
In their last meeting, both teams had more turnovers than field goals and GW held the Owls to only two points over almost 14 minutes in the first half. GW was ahead 25-15 at the half and the team never looked back holding then-No. 19 ranked Temple to only 41 points in the game. The Colonials had upset a No. 19 ranked team earlier in the season as well when GW beat Purdue at the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas in November.
This is the last regular season road game for GW this season. The Colonials return to Smith Center for Senior Day on Sunday as they conclude the regular season playing Charlotte, the first place team in the A-10, for the first time. The top four teams in the conference get a first-round bye in next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament which takes place at Saint Joseph's starting on Friday, March 3.
