March 3, 2010
2010 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Teams WASHINGTON - George Washington women's basketball redshirt freshman forward Brooke Wilson has been named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie Team in voting conducted by the league's 14 head coaches and announced Wednesday afternoon. Wilson, who becomes the 20th Colonials' player to earn All-Rookie Team honors, leads GW and ranks in the Top 9 in the A-10 in four categories - rebounding, steals, offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding. She is third in the league with 2.1 steals per game and sixth with 7.9 rebounds per game, both tops among A-10 rookies. In 14 conference games, Wilson's averages increased to 8.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals, both of which rank in the Top 5 in the league. She also averages 2.4 offensive boards and 5.4 defensive boards, good for ninth and sixth in the A-10, respectively. Wilson's 213 total rebounds are 15 shy of cracking the program's single-season Top 20, while her 7.9 rebound average would be the highest for a GW player since All-American Tajama (Abraham) Ngongba averaged 9.3 during the 1995-96 season. She also is second on the team in minutes played (759), assists (50) and blocks (13) and averages 4.3 points on 40.0 percent shooting in 27 games played. No. 11 seed GW (6-21, 3-11 A-10) plays sixth-seeded Duquesne in the first round of the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD, this Friday, March 5 at 8:00 pm. The winner of that game will face third-seeded Temple in the quarterfinal round Saturday at 8:00 pm. First round and quarterfinal match-ups can be viewed live on www.atlantic10.org. Fans can subscribe for the cost of $7.95 per game, while A-10 All-Access subscribers can view the contests for free.
