LOS ANGELES, CA - The fifth-seeded No. 14/13 George Washington women's basketball team will battle 12th-seeded Boise State in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Tournament at USC's Galen Center in Los Angeles, CA, on Saturday, March 17, at approximately 4:45 pm EDT. The game will be televised on ESPN and ESPNU.
Tip-off for Saturday's game will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Texas A&M/Texas-Arlington game, which begins at 2:00 pm EDT. The winner of that game will face either the Colonials or Broncos on Monday, March 19, at 8:00 or 10:30 pm EDT. GW has never faced Boise State, Texas A&M, or Texas-Arlington. The second round winner will advance to the Regional Semifinals in Dallas, TX on March 24.
No. 14/13 GW (26-3) is making its fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and 14th overall, all of which have come under long-time head coach Joe McKeown, this year's Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. The Colonials are 14-13 in 13 previous NCAA Tournament appearances, including an 11-2 mark in first round games.

At 26-3, GW is in the midst of its best season, in terms of winning percentage, in school history. GW's banner 2006-07 season has included a Top 10 national ranking for four weeks, a 19-game winning streak (second longest in program history), the fifth undefeated league record (14-0) in A-10 history and a sixth straight A-10 regular-season title.
GW is led by a starting rotation that hasn't changed in the last 25 games, posting a 22-3 mark. Junior point guard Kimberly Beck was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Year and first team all-conference while pacing the league in assists (5.5 apg) for the third consecutive season, just the third player to accomplish the feat. Sophomore first team All A-10 pick Jessica Adair and junior second teamer Sarah-Jo Lawrence lead the team in scoring at 13.1 ppg. Senior third team all-conference selection Kenan Cole also averages in double-figures at 10.9 ppg, while junior A-10 All-Defensive team member Whitney Allen adds 6.4 ppg and 6.1 rpg.
Boise State (24-8) is making is second appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the last coming in 1994 when the Broncos lost to Washington 89-61 in the first round. BSU earned an automatic bid to this year's postseason by claiming the WAC Tournament title, beating New Mexico State 49-46 on March 10. Broncos head coach Gordy Presnell was tabbed WBCA Region 7 Coach of the Year and sophomore guard Jessica Thompson was a first team All-WAC selection after leading the team in scoring at 14.1 ppg.
