WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington women's basketball junior Kimberly Beck was selected an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press on Wednesday.
Beck is the fourth player in program history to be recognized as an AP honorable mention All-American, joining former GW women's basketball standouts Darlene Saar, Debbie Hemery and Cathy Joens. Noelia Gomez (1998, 1999) and Anna Montanana (2005) were honorable mention picks by Kodak and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, while current assistant coach Tajama (Abraham) Ngongba received Kodak first team All-America distinction in 1997.
One of 11 final nominees for the Nancy Lieberman Award, Beck averaged 11.3 points and an Atlantic 10-leading 5.3 assists to help GW return to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1997. Her 171 assists paced the A-10 for the third consecutive season, making her just the third player in league history to accomplish the feat. Entering her senior year, Beck has the chance to join Penn State's Suzie McConnell as the only players in A-10 history to lead the league in assists for four straight seasons.
The first team All-Atlantic 10 pick and conference's Defensive Player of the Year finished first in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.01), second in the league in steals (74), and fifth in both free-throw percentage (.812) and three-point field goal percentage (.400). Beck concluded her junior campaign just 17 points shy of becoming the 23rd player in school-history to reach the 1,000-point plateau and already ranks third in career assists (512), fifth in career three-pointers (159) and ninth in career steals at GW (224).
The honorable mention All-America selection adds to Beck's long list of accolades this season, which also includes three A-10 Co-Player of the Week awards, All-Tournament Team selections at both the BTI Classic and Surf `N Slam Hoop Classic, and Surf `N Slam Classic Most Valuable Player and A-10 All-Defensive Team distinction.

The Colonials finished the season with a 28-4 overall mark, tying the school-record for most victories in a season, and won their sixth consecutive A-10 regular-season title by posting just the fifth undefeated conference record (14-0) in league history.
