Joens To Compete In ESPN's College Three-Point Shooting Contest

March 31, 2004

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington's Cathy Joens will compete in ESPN's three-point shooting contest in San Antonio, TX. The competition will air on ESPN at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1.

Joens will face off with some of the nation's top long-range bombers when she takes the court on Thursday. The rest of the field includes Courtney Davidson (Navy), Beth Jones (Purdue), Chandi Jones (Houston), Kelly Mazzante (Penn St.), Vicki Krapohl (Duke), Amber Jacobs (Boston College) and Kim MacMillan (St. John's).

Joens is the most prolific three-point shooter in GW history, holding the school record with 286 career threes. She shot 44 percent (96-218) from behind the arc this season and ranked fourth nationally with 3.37 three-point field goals made per game. Joens also holds the school record with eight three-pointers in one game, which she set against Richmond earlier this season.

The women's three-point championship is a part of the 16th Annual Mountain Dew College Basketball Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championships.
