Montañana Makes Professional Debut

WASHINGTON, DC - WASHINGTON, DC - GW senior Anna Montañana made her WNBA debut on Saturday, May 8. The Valencia, Spain native played 13 minutes in the Connecticut Sun's 69-64 preseason victory versus the Charlotte Sting.

Montañana scored two points and also contributed a rebound and an assist to help the Sun to their second preseason triumph. She was 0-for-4 from the field and missed her only three-point attempt. Montañana did not play in the Sun's first preseason game versus the Minnesota Lynx.

The Sun continue their preseason schedule at Houston on Thursday, May 12.

Former Colonials Cathy Joens and Ugo Oha also saw action in WNBA preseason contests last week. Joens played seven minutes and recorded a rebound in the Washington Mystics', 81-72, loss at Houston on May 6. Oha scored two points and tallied a steal in three minutes of action in the San Antonio Sliver Stars', 82-74, loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday.

The 2005 WNBA regular season begins on Saturday, May 21.
