Peters Selected as The Advocate's Girls Athlete of the Year

May 25, 2005

BATON ROUGE, LA - GW women's basketball signee Faith Peters was named The Advocate's 2005 Girls Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, May 24. The award was presented at the 20th annual Athlete of the Year/Star of Stars banquet at Ashley Manor.

Peters, a star at the University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge, LA, beat out Ole Miss soccer signee Christine Breaux and Baylor track and field signee Katrina Taylor, to win the newspaper's yearly award. She was a finalist for the honor after her junior season as well.

During her senior campaign, Peters averaged 19.4 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per outing. She was named all-metro and all-state for the second time. Peters also was an all-metro volleyball selection and lettered in track.

The Advocate serves Baton Rouge, LA and the surrounding area and has a circulation of approximately 100,000.
