WASHINGTON - Olivia Gumbs, a 6-foot-1 forward from Lafayette, has been added to the George Washington women's basketball roster for the 2017-18 academic year.

The Newark, Delaware, native comes to George Washington following a standout freshman season at Lafayette. She played in all 32 games last season with 19 starts while leading the Leopards in both scoring (10.5 points) and rebounding (7.2) average. She totaled six double-doubles on the season and was the Leopards' leading scorer 13 times.

"Olivia is highly motivated both as an athlete and a student with a drive to succeed that will fit the culture already established in the GW Athletic Department," said head coach Jennifer Rizzotti. "She had a very successful freshman campaign at Lafayette and I believe her style of play will translate nicely into the Atlantic 10. Most importantly, she's a great kid and I'm confident she will be a great addition to our women's basketball family here at GW."

Gumbs picked up three Patriot League Rookie of the Week Awards throughout the regular season before a unanimous selection to the conference's All-Rookie Team.

She played scholastically at St. Andrew's School (Middletown, Delaware) and graduated as a Top-100 national recruit according to ESPN. She was a two-time All-Conference and All-State performer at St. Andrew's while also starring in volleyball and crew.

Gumbs if the fifth player to join GW's 2017 recruiting class alongside Sarah Overcash, Chyna Latimer, Lexus Levy and Neila Luma.
