NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The George Washington women's basketball team will play seven games against teams that reached the 2014 postseason, including five at the Charles E. Smith Center, as part of its 16-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule for 2014-15, the league announced on Monday.
GW will play home-and-home series against A-10 regular-season champion and NCAA Tournament qualifier Dayton, as well as Richmond and Revolutionary Rival George Mason. The Colonials and Spiders renew their home-and-home matchups after a two-year hiatus; the teams previously met twice per year each season from 2002-12.
Additionally, the Colonials will host A-10 champion Fordham, conference newcomer Davidson, WNIT participants Duquesne and St. Bonaventure and NCAA Tournament at-large selection Saint Joseph's at the Smith Center.
On top of road trips at Dayton, Mason and Richmond, GW will visit La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Saint Louis and WNIT contestant VCU.
The complete 2014-15 schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.
GW finished the 2013-14 season with a 23-11 overall record and 11-5 mark in the A-10, tying for second in the league standings and reaching the conference semifinals. The Colonials earned a bid to the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) and advanced to the third round, picking up the program's first postseason victories since 2008.
