CHARLOTTE, NC - Senior forward Anna Montañana has been named a preseason honorable mention All-American by Street and Smith's. She is one of just three Atlantic 10 performers to garner recognition from the group in its national college basketball preview.

Montañana was joined by fellow league standouts Tara Boothe (Xavier) and Kate Flavin (Richmond) as players recognized by the publication.

Montañana was one of two players to start all 30 games for GW in 2003-04 and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team. She ranked second in the A-10 in rebounds per game (7.6) and steals per game (2.33) last season. In addition, Montañana finished third in the league in assists average with 5.37 helpers per outing. She averaged 12.0 points per contest last season and established a new personal best with 21 points in the GW's win against Dayton. Montañana had one of the most productive games in school history on January 31, 2004 when she became the second Colonial to record a triple double (11 pts., 12 rebs., 13 assts.) against La Salle.

The 6-1 senior has also etched her name in GW's career record book. She stands 11th on the Colonials' career three-point field goals made list with 57. She also ranks 13th in career assists with 325.

Street and Smith's 2004-05 college basketball preview is available at newsstands now.

The Colonials begin the 2004-05 campaign with an exhibition contest versus Everyone's Internet on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 p.m. GW will tip off its regular season on Friday, Nov. 19 at Georgetown.
