WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's basketball program and the GW Department of Athletics & Recreation will proudly play host to the 2017 Paradise Jam Reef Division, November 23-25, at the Charles E. Smith Center.
One of the top non-conference tournaments in women's basketball, the 2017 Paradise Jam was forced to relocate from its home of the past 17 years at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas due to the damage sustained across the island during both Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria in September.
"We are honored and proud to step in and host the 2017 Paradise Jam Reef Division this November at the Smith Center," said head coach Jennifer Rizzotti. "The devastation to St. Thomas in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria will be on all of our minds throughout the tournament and our priority is to help provide relief to the affected communities by collecting donations each day of the event. We are proud to announce we will be raising money for The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands. We also will donate a portion of the proceeds from ticket and apparel sales to the fund to help aid in the long rebuilding process the islands have ahead. Basketball fans in the area will be treated to six terrific matchups over the three-day tournament and we are grateful for the opportunity to showcase our wonderful campus, facility and all that this beautiful city has to offer."
The three-day tournament will feature GW facing Vanderbilt on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 23, 1:30 p.m.), followed by games against Wisconsin (Nov. 24, 1 p.m.) and Syracuse (Nov. 25, 3:30 p.m.).
Tickets will be $15 per day (good for both games) or $40 for an All-Session Package. Additionally, a group ticket rate of $10 is available for groups of 25 or more. For more information about ticketing, visit GetGWTix.com or call the Smith Center Box Office at 202-99-GWTIX.
