PHILADELPHIA, PA - The George Washington women's basketball team was chosen to finish eighth in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2009-10 according to a preseason poll conducted by the league's head coaches and released during the conference's Media Day Wednesday.

Along with six returning letterwinners, GW second-year head coach Mike Bozeman has added a five-player recruiting class rated the best in the Atlantic 10 and 42nd nationally by ESPN. Sophomores Tara Booker, an A-10 All-Rookie Team selection in 2008-09, and Tiana Myers lead the returning cast, while ESPN Top 100 recruit Danni Jackson and ESPN position-rated newcomers Janine Davis and Megan Nipe highlight this year's freshmen.

In Bozeman's first year, the Colonials finished 17-14 overall and earned a bid to the Postseason WNIT, one of a record eight teams from the A-10 to participate in postseason play. The WNIT berth marked GW's 10th consecutive postseason appearance and 18th trip to either the NCAA Tournament or WNIT in the past 19 seasons.

GW opens its season on the road at North Texas on Nov. 17, before hosting its first game in newly renovated Charles E. Smith Center on Nov. 19, against Coppin State at 7:00 pm.
