GW Looks to Rebound in First Trip to Kentucky Sunday

LEXINGTON, KY - The George Washington women's basketball team travels to Lexington, KY for the first time to visit the Kentucky Wildcats at Memorial Coliseum Sunday at 2:00 pm ET. The Colonials have won their previous five games against Southeastern Conference schools, including a win over UK last season.

GW (2-1) has won both previous series meetings against Kentucky, including a 75-65 victory at Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, DC, last season. The Colonials extended their home-court winning streak to 15 games behind the dominant play of Jessica Adair and Antelia Parrish, who combined for 53 points and 25 rebounds in the win last November.
GW enters Sunday's game against Kentucky (1-1) undefeated in its last five games against SEC opponents. In 2006-07, the Colonials beat Auburn and upset No. 11/10 Georgia. Last season, GW bested Auburn twice - including a last-second road win and victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament - and also topped UK. GW's last loss against an SEC foe came Dec. 7, 2006 at No. 6/5 Tennessee, 85-62. The Colonials are 11-16 all-time versus the power conference.
GW's first trip to the Bluegrass State in more than a decade didn't go as hoped as Western Kentucky led by single-digits the majority of the game and held off several rally attempts in the Colonials' 72-64 loss in Bowling Green, KY, Friday night. Seniors Antelia Parrish and Jessica and Jazmine Adair combined for 38 points, while freshman Tara Booker scored 11 of the team's 29 bench points.
Kentucky is coming off a come-from-behind 58-55 victory over Cincinnati last Monday. The Wildcats erased an eight-point second-half deficit and sophomore Victoria Dunlap scored 17 of her career-high 22 points in the second period to lead UK over the Bearcats. Senior Eleia Roddy followed with a near double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Kentucky opened the season with a 70-60 loss to Michigan, a game that saw UK shoot just 32.0 percent. Dunlap, who had 19 points and 10 boards in the loss to the Wolverines, was a SEC All-Rookie Team selection last season and was a preseason All-Conference pick prior to the start of 2008-09. UK was picked seventh in the preseason coaches' poll after finishing fourth with an 8-6 league record and 17-16 overall mark in 2007-08.
