Gymnastics Takes Third at Texas Woman's University

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University gymnastics team took third in a quadrangular meet in Denton, TX on Saturday night finishing behind nationally ranked Oklahoma and Texas Woman's University while defeating Centenary. Maggie Parrack led the way scoring 28.775 in three events while junior Gillian Coleman scored 28.6 total points.

Maggie Parrack and Kristen Simpson both recorded a 9.725 on the vault while Jess Guilbert and Emily Howarth both pitched in with a 9.6 to help GW score a 48.0 on the vault.

The Colonials best rotation was the bars where they recorded a 48.325 which tied them for second with Texas Woman's. McKenzie Parrack notched the best performance for a Colonial on the day with a 9.8. Bree Plotsker also turned in a solid performance with a 9.750 while Christa Devine recorded a collegiate high 9.650. Each performer for the Colonials recorded at least a 9.525 in the event.

Carolyn Marckesano led the way on the balance beam with a 9.550 while Coleman also chipped in with a 9.475 en route to scoring a 46.450 as a team for the event.

Maggie Parrack also led the way for GW on the floor exercise with a 9.775 while Coleman and McKenzie Parrack recorded a 9.6.

The Colonais are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Morgantown, WV to take on fellow East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) member West Virginia, along with Penn State, Kent State, and Wilson at 7:00 p.m.
