WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The George Washington University gymnastics team posted a score of 189.700 in a dual meet with William & Mary Sunday afternoon at the Tribe's Kaplan Arena. Senior co-captain Erin Aiken (Centreville, VA) was GW's top performer on both bars and floor to lead the Colonials past William & Mary, which finished with a team total of 188.875.
With the victory, GW improves its record to 5-1 on the season. The Colonials posted scores of 47.75 on vault, 48.425 on uneven bars, 45.575 on beam and 47.95 on floor. A GW gymnast was the top performer in each individual event with Aiken and senior Amy Stack (Matthews, NC) each placing first in two events. Aiken also finished runner-up in the all-around at 37.900.
Leading the way on vault for GW was Stack and freshman Kristen Simpson (Surfside, SC), as they both tied for first in the event with respective 9.7s. Aiken claimed fourth with a score of 9.625.
On bars, in which GW posted its best event score, Aiken and Stack shared top honors as each recorded a score of 9.725. Freshman Bree Plotsker (Wantagh, NY) and sophomore Abbey Myles (Waxhaw, NC) claimed the next two spots at third and tied for fourth, respectively. Plotsker had a 9.7, while Myles posted a score of 9.65.
Junior Jess Guilbert (Roswell, GA) highlighted action for the Colonials on beam and walked away with the individual title after posting a 9.55. Sophomore Carolyn Marckesano (Reston, VA) was GW's next best finisher at fourth with a 9.4.

GW is back in action when it travels to Morgantown, WV, on Sunday, Feb. 5 for a meet hosted by EAGL member West Virginia featuring the Colonials, Ohio State and Iowa. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
