RALEIGH, NC - A new season high, 192.075 on Super Sunday's meet at North Carolina State should boost the Colonials closer to the 36th ranking which they need to accomplish their goal of qualifying for a NCAA Regional berth. With their new season standard, GW finished third behind #16 Auburn (195.650) and the #27 Wolfpack (195.375). The Colonials defeated the #37 Texas Woman's University Pioneers (191.675).

Junior Kristen Simpson posted the best individual performance for GW with a 9.775 on vault, tying her for seventh on the event with Auburn's A.J. Mills. Followed by sophomore Christa Devine (9.625), senior tri-captain Carolyn Marckesano (9.600), freshman Leslie Delima (9.475) and junior Erin Quigg (9.300), the Colonials accumulated just 47.775 points on vault.

Devine and senior tri-captains McKenzie Parrack and Gillian Coleman paced GW to a new season-high 48.275 on bars. Devine and Parrack both posted a 9.725, while Coleman earned a 9.700 for the fourth straight meet dating back to last season's EAGL Championships. Delima and sophomore Megan Quinn rounded out the scoring for the Colonials with scores of 9.650 and 9.475, respectively.

Three gymnasts posted season-highs as the Colonials scored a season-best 48.075 on beam. Sophomore Lindsay Tom led GW with a season-best 9.700. Junior Bree Plotsker took second on GW with a 9.650. Freshman Kirstie Viens competed on beam for the first time in 2008, finishing third on the team with a 9.625. Delima was consistent like always with a 9.600. Quinn recored a new season-high 9.500 to round out the scoring for the Colonials.

 

 

Marckesano led GW once again on floor with a team-high 9.700. Delima's 9.675 was second on GW with a 9.675 and Quinn was third with a 9.650. Parrack performed solidly with a 9.500 and Plotsker competed on the exercise for the first time this season, earning a 9.425. As a team the Colonials racked up 47.950 points.

Delima was the lone competitor on all-around for GW and she finished ninth with a 38.400.

GW next competes at #29 Kent State on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7:00 pm.
