Final Stats

RALEIGH, NC - Senior Leslie Delima recorded a career-high 9.900 on the balance beam and finished in second-place in the all-around on Friday evening at Reynolds Coliseum, but her effort was not enough as the GW gymnastics team finished in third-place behind NC State and winner Iowa State.

Delima nailed her routine on balance beam to run away with the event with a career-high 9.900. Her score ties her for seventh-place in school history with GW Athletic Hall of Famer Devin McCalla '02 and six other gymnasts.

The senior from Virginia Beach, VA also performed well on the floor exercise (9.700) while turning in scores of 9.550 on the vault and 9.500 on the uneven bars for a 38.650 all-around score. Delima has been the Colonials most consistent gymnast this season and has already garnered EAGL Gymnast of the Week honors once this season.

Despite Delima's outstanding performance, the Colonials were unable to win the beam, or any other event, as a team. EAGL rival NC State took second-place with 193.175 while Iowa State won the event with 193.250

Freshman Betsy Zander recorded a 9.550 in both the vault and uneven bars on her way to a 37.950 in the all-around while freshman Kiera Kenney led the team with a 9.600 on the bars and 9.475 on vault.

Junior Brittany Burnham finished second on the team with a 9.600 on the balance beam.

The Colonials return to action next Sunday, February 13, when they host William & Mary on Brownie & Girl Scout Day at the Charles E. Smith Center, 22nd and G Streets, NW, at 3:00pm.
