Gymnastics Posts Season-High Total of 190.975 at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, WV - The George Washington University gymnastics team recorded a season-high team total of 190.975 to finish fourth Sunday afternoon at a quad meet hosted by West Virginia at the WVU Coliseum. Senior co-captain Erin Aiken (Centreville, VA) finished among the top 10 on both vault and uneven bars to pace the Colonials.

The host Mountaineers won the competition with a score of 195.100, followed by Big 10 members Ohio State (194.500) and Iowa (192.250). GW finished with marks of 48.275 on vault, 48.575 on bars, 46.825 on beam and 47.300 in the floor exercise.

Aiken, junior Maggie Parrack (Richardson, TX) and freshman Kristen Simpson (Surfside, SC) each finished tied for sixth on vault with a score of 9.775 to lead the Colonials in the event.

On bars, senior Amy Stack (Matthews, NC) was GW's top finisher with a score of 9.775, while Aiken finished in a tie for eighth at 9.725.

Simpson and sophomore Carolyn Marckesano (Reston, VA) posted the best marks on beam for GW with respective 9.5's, while junior Jess Guilbert (Roswell, GA) was the top Colonials' finisher on floor with a score of 9.6 to claim 16th.

Aiken was also the lone Colonial to compete in the all-around for the third straight meet and recorded a season-high total of 38.275.

GW returns to action when it hosts Kent State on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center.
