Gymnastics Edged By Maryland
WASHINGTON, DC (Feb. 13, 2002) - The GW Gymnastics team scored a season-high 194.875, but was unable to top a strong performance by Maryland who posted an overall score of 195.350. GW's Jessica Mantak (Colonia, NJ/Wardlaw-Heritage) was second in the all-around with a score of 39.10, a personal record. Mantak tied her career best scores in three of the four events during the meet. Devin McCalla (Dallas, TX/J.J. Pierce) placed fourth in the all-around (38.975), but was first overall in the vault (9.825) and floor exercise (9.90). McCalla's score of 9.825 on the vault set a new personal best. As a team, GW set season-highs on the uneven parallel bars (48.975), floor exercise (49.075) and beam (48.650). The Colonials return to action on Sunday, February 17, at 1:00 p.m., when they compete in the Towson Invitational with Penn, Temple, Towson and Yale. Colonials Individual Scores:
