Colonials Place Third In Raleigh Meet

RALEIGH, NC - The George Washington women's gymnastics team hit the road once again, this time to Raleigh, NC and scored a team score of 192.575 in their third place finish Friday evening. The Colonials scored 48 or better in three of their four routines in scoring their third highest score of the season.

Junior Danielle Paretti and senior Erin Quigg tied for the top Colonial score of the evening. They both recorded 9.775 marks, with Quigg's coming on vault and Parretti's coming on floor exercise. Parretti's score was good enough for fourth best in the entire meet. Redshirt senior Gillian Coleman recorded the top score on the uneven bars with a 9.650 mark and senior Bree Plotsker scored a 9.700 on beam, which was tops on the squad.

Sophomore Leslie Delima and freshman Amanda Murphy once again each participated in the all-around, with Delima finishing with a 38.525 and Murphy finishing with a 37.950. Delima finished fourth overall in the all-around competition.

Senior Kristen Simpson also had another strong meet for the Colonials, finishing with a 9.750 on vault, 9.550 on beam and 9.675 on floor.

Overall, NC State who was hosting the meet, won with a team score of 194.350 and North Carolina finished with a team score of 193.525. William & Mary, the Colonials next opponent, finished fourth with a score of 187.875.

The Colonials return on Sunday, February 22 when they return to the Smith Center and face off against William & Mary on "Capital Area Girl Scout Day". First rotation is set to begin at 1:00 p.m and it is one of the final two times to catch the Colonials at home in 2009.
