Gymnastics Sees Red, Defeats Maryland, 191.875-191.600

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The George Washington Colonials defeated the Maryland Terrapins 191.875 - 191.600 Friday night at the Terps' Comcast Pavilion. Freshman Leslie Delima won the all-around with a season-high 38.600. Kristen Simpson won the vault with a 9.750.

GW started the meet on uneven bars and scored 47.525 with a pair of falls. Junior Bree Plotsker paced the Colonials with a season high 9.725, while senior Gillian Coleman led off the rotation with a solid 9.650 performance. Sophomore Megan Quinn and Delima recorded a 9.525 and 9.50, respectively.

The Colonials followed on vault to score a 48.450 as all five gymnasts scored at least a 9.650. Specialist Kristen Simpson scored her second consecutive 9.750 to take the event crown. Senior Carolyn Marckesano was first up in the rotation and scored a season-best, 9.650. Junior Erin Quigg followed her with a 9.700. Delima was third in the rotation and took home a 9.700, a season-high for the all-arounder. Senior McKenzie Parrack rounded out the scoring with a 9.650.

GW then took their place on floor exercise and scored 48.400 as all five took home at least a 9.625. Parrack started the rotation with a 9.675 and was followed by a 9.725 by Delima. Plotsker was third in the rotation and scored a season-high 9.625. Quinn was fourth in the lineup and should see her season-average increase with a 9.700. Marckesano was the final scorer for the Colonials with a 9.675.

The final rotation of the night saw the Colonials score 47.500 on balance beam. Sophomore specialist Lindsay Tom led off with a solid 9.575. Delima was third in the lineup and earned a 9.625. Plotsker capped off a solid meet with a 9.575 to match Tom. Devine was fifth in the rotation and tallied a 9.450 while freshman Kirstie Viens rounded out the beam performers with a 9.275.
