GW Gymnastics Eclipses 195.00 at WVU Quad Meet

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Senior Stephanie Stoicovy and junior Betsy Zander each placed on the all-around podium as the George Washington gymnastics team posted their highest team score of the season in a third-place finish at West Virginia's Quad Meet at WVU Coliseum.
The Colonials scored 195.300, topping their previous best from last weekend by 0.475. The last time the Colonials eclipsed 195.000 was March 20, 2004.
The University of Denver won the event with 196.800 followed by the host Mountaineers with 196.375. Temple finished in fourth place with 191.625.
Zander posted the best routine of the day, scoring a career-high 9.875 on the vault to finish in a three-way tie for first place. She added 9.775 on uneven bars (t-7th), 9.825 on balance beam (t-6th) and 9.650 on floor exercise (18th). Her score of 39.150 placed her second overall in the all-around.
Stoicovy followed in third place in the all-around with a 39.000. She posted scores of 9.700 on vault (t-15th), 9.725 on bars (13th), 9.725 on balance beam (t-19th) and 9.850 on floor exercise (t-5th).
Senior Kayla Carto tied Stoicovy's 9.825 on the floor exercise for ninth place. She added a 9.750 on balance beam and 9.600 on uneven bars.
Sophomore Elena Corcoran tied for seventh on vault with 9.800 and tied for ninth on balance beam with 9.800.
