Colonials Edged Out By Wolfpack In Regular Season Finale

RALEIGH, NC - The George Washington University gymnastics team fell short of the NC State Wolfpack Friday night in Raleigh, NC as they finished off their 2009 regular season. The final team scores were 195.475 for the Wolfpack and 193.050 for the Colonials.

Freshman Amanda Murphy scored a 38.200 in the all-around.

The Colonials were once again paced by senior Kristen Simpson, who scored a 9.725 on vault and a 9.775 on floor, to go along with a 9.650 on her beam routine. The Colonials had a very consistent meet, scoring at least 48.125 in eeach rotation, but couldn't get the big scores they needed to take down a top competitor in North Carolina State.

George Washington also got a big night from senior Bree Plotsker, who put up two 9.725 scores on bars and beam to help the Colonials. Sophomore Leslie Delima also once again competed in the all-around and scored a 39.975.

Junior Danielle Parretti also put a 9.700 score on floor to life the Colonials in that rotation. Floor once again was the Colonial's strongest routine, where they scored a 48.450. Floor has been one of the most consistent rotations for the Colonials on the season and it was the case again Friday night. Junior Megan Quinn also scored a 9.650 in the event to further the consistency.

George Washington will not prepare for the EAGL Championships, which will also be held in Raleigh, NC. First rotation is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EST.
