Stoicovy Takes All-Around as GW Gymnastics Wins Towson Quad Meet

TOWSON, Md. - Senior Stephanie Stoicovy won the all-around competition with a career-high score of 39.20 to lead the George Washington gymnastics team to a first-place finish at Towson's quad meet on Friday evening at the Towson Center.

GW posted a team score of 194.475 to finish ahead of the host Tigers (194.100), as well as Southern Connecticut (191.325) and West Chester (189.150).

The Colonials posted the highest team scores of the evening on vault (48.675), balance beam (48.675) and uneven bars (48.875).

Stoicovy won the balance beam with a career-high score of 9.850. She also placed third on uneven bars (9.775) and fourth on vault (9.800) and floor exercise (9.775). Her score on the vault was also a new career high.

Junior Betsy Zander placed third in the all-around competition with a score of 38.475. She matched her career-high of 9.825 to finish second on balance beam, and also finished fifth on bars (9.750).

Junior Kiera Kenney won the uneven bars, matching her career-high with a score of 9.850. Junior Taylor Henderson finished second on vault with a career-high score of 9.825 and tied Stoicovy for third place on bars with a 9.775. Freshman Alexsis Petrikis also set a new career-high on vault, finishing fifth with a 9.750.

The Colonials conclude the regular season on Sunday when they host Towson, Maryland and Brown in a quad meet at 1 p.m. on Senior Day at the Charles E. Smith Center. Stoicovy and classmates Nefertiti Roy and Kayla Carto will be honored for their contributions to the GW gymnastics program.
