Gymnastics Takes Runner-Up Honors at Towson

TOWSON, MD - The George Washington University gymnastics team finished with a team total of 192.825 to finish runner-up at Towson on Thursday, March 17. The host Tigers finished on top with a mark of 195.075. Junior Erin Aiken (Centreville, VA) placed second in the all-around with a career-best total of 38.9 to highlight action for the Colonials.

GW finished with scores of 48.7 on vault, 48.525 on bars, 47.925 on beam and 47.675 in the floor exercise. Aiken was the Colonials top performer on floor and shared top team honors with junior Tiffany Jones (Ravenna, OH) on bars.

Sophomore Jess Guilbert (Leesburg, VA) was the top performer for GW on vault with a mark of 9.775, while Aiken and Jones finished with respective 9.775s on bars.

Jones won the beam title with a season-best score of 9.8, and Aiken closed out the evening with a 9.775 on floor to lead the Colonials. All-Around, Aiken finished with scores of 9.725 on vault, 9.775 on bars, 9.625 on beam and 9.775 on floor.

The Colonials (13-13) return to Washington, DC, to host Rhode Island on Sunday, March 20, at 1 p.m. at Smith Center.
