RALEIGH, NC - Led by senior Erin Aiken's (Centreville, VA) third place finish in the all-around, and seniors Heather Kaufman (Austin, TX) and Amy Stack's (Matthews, NC) respective 9.825's on vault, the George Washington University gymnastics team recorded a team total of 193.250, its second-best total of the year, in its regular season finale at NC State Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum.

The Colonials finished with scores of 48.8 on vault, 48.125 on bars, 47.625 on beam and 48.7 on floor. GW's total on vault eclipsed its previous season best of 48.75.

Helping the Colonials record a season high on vault was the tandem of Kaufman and Stack as each posted a season-best 9.825 to share third. Aiken, meanwhile, recorded a 9.775 to claim 10th, her seventh time in 12 competitions she has scored at least a 9.75 or better.

On bars, Aiken was the top performer with a 9.75 to finish in a tie for sixth, while senior co-captain Tiffany Jones (Ravenna, OH) and freshman Bree Plotsker (Wantagh, NY) shared 11th place with respective 9.7's. Junior Maggie Parrack (Richardson, TX) was GW's next best finisher with a 9.625.

Plotsker turned in the top performance on balance beam, setting a new career high with a 9.725 to tie for eighth. Sophomore Carolyn Marckesano (Reston, VA) also had a season high with a 9.7 to tie for 10th, and Jones took 13th with a 9.675, her best mark since winning the beam title with a 9.8 vs. Towson on March 1.

Aiken turned in her third top 10 showing of the evening on floor, leading the way for the Colonials with a 9.825 to tie for fourth. Guilbert registered a 9.775 to claim 11th, while Kaufman, Marckesano and Stack all finished in a three-way tie for 12th with each posting a 9.7.

In the all-around, Aiken finished third out of six with a mark of 38.775. The total marked the seventh time in which she has scored 38.125 or better this season and it also was her second-best showing of the year aside from her career-high 39.0.

GW returns to action when it travels to Piscataway, NJ, on Saturday, March 25, for the 2006 EAGL Championships, hosted by Rutgers. The eight-team competition is set for 6 p.m.
