WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University gymnastics team celebrated `Senior Night' and fell to Towson University, 194.850-192.800, Tuesday night at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. Seniors Gillian Coleman, Carolyn Marckesano and McKenzie Parrack all competed in their final home meets at Smith Center.

Marckesano tied for second on the team on vault with a 9.775, and also tied for second on the squad with an identical score on floor exercise. Coleman tied for second on GW on bars with a 9.675, while also tying for second on floor. Parrack posted a career-best 9.825 on the floor exercise, finishing first on the Colonials, and tying for second overall.

The Colonials opened the night on vault, and despite a pair of falls were able to record a 48.075. Junior Erin Quigg matched a career-high to lead GW with a 9.800, also tying for the event individual title with Towson's Elise McDonald. Marckesano and junior Kristen Simpson placed third overall in the event with matching 9.775s. Freshman Leslie Delima recorded a 9.550, while sophomore Christa Devine rounded out the scorers with a 9.175.

The uneven parallel bars were the second rotation for GW and once again were plagued by a pair of falls. Delima and Devine led the team with a pair of 9.725s. Coleman led off the event with a solid 9.675, while sophomore Megan Quinn cleaned up the rotation with a 9.475 en route to a 47.800 event total.

Third on the night for the Colonials was the balance beam where the Colonials hit on all six routines, finishing with 48.200 points. Devine once again captured the team lead with a 9.725, tying for third overall. Sophomore Lindsay Tom was second on the team with a 9.650. Quinn and sophomore Danielle Parretti tied for third on the team with identical 9.625 scores. Simpson was the final scorer on the apparatus with a 9.575.

 

 

GW closed the night out on the floor exercise with just five performers, but closed out the night with a season-high 48.725. Parrack led the team with a 9.825, which was also the team's final performance on the night. Marckesano, Coleman and Quinn went 2-3-4 in the lineup and all came away with identical 9.775 performances. Delima led off the rotation with a 9.575, finishing with a 38.375 all-around score.

The Colonials travel to Towson for the Tigers' Senior Night Friday, March 21 for a 7:00 pm start.
