Colonials Place 6th At EAGL Championships

RALEIGH, NC - The George Washington University Gymnastics team entered postseason competition Saturday night in Raleigh, NC at the EAGL Championships and placed sixth with a team score of 193.050. Senior Kristen Simpson had the high score for the Colonials with a 9.850 on vault, which good enough for tied for fifth in the event.

The host North Carolina State Wolfpack won the meet with a team score of 195.700 and West Virginia and North Carolina rounded out the top three. Pittsburgh finished fourth, followed by New Hampshire, Maryland and Rutgers finished eighth in the meet.

The Colonials high score came on floor, where they scored a 48.475. Simpson also led the Colonials on the floor with a 9.750, which was matched by sophomore Leslie Delima. Junior Megan Quinn also had a 9.700 in the event to continue her strong season on the floor.

George Washington had matching 48.400 scores on vault and the uneven bars. Senior Erin Quigg was a standout on the bars with a 9.800 and Megan Quinn also produced a 9.700 in the event. On vault, Quigg also put together a 9.700 routine and freshman Amandy Murphy and Danielle Parretti each had 9.675 scores.

Murphy and Delima also continued their strong performances in the all-around with scores of 37.650 and 37.600 respectively.
