McCalla Named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week Early Success Earns Honors

WASHINGTON, DC (Jan. 23) - George Washington senior gymnast Devin McCalla (Dallas, TX/J.J. Pearce) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week, the Conference office announced today. This is McCalla's first Atlantic 10 honor this season.

McCalla led the Colonials to first place in the GW Invitational on Saturday, January 19 by winning the all-around with a score of 38.900. Her success helped the Colonials at their first meet of the season to sail by some tough competition with a field of six competing teams in all. GW finished the meet with a score of 191.600 edging out second place North Carolina (191.275).

McCalla's performance was highlighted by a 9.800 on the beam and a 9.875 on the floor exercise, placing her first in both events. She also helped GW's cause with a 9.600 on the vault and a 9.625 on the uneven bars. Her scores make her the current Atlantic 10 leader in the all-around. She ranks among the Atlantic 10's top six performers on the vault, bars, beam and floor exercise.

McCalla and the Colonials will return to competition on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7:00 p.m. in College Park, MD, when they face the University of Maryland Terps.
