McCalla, Wilee Lead Gymnastics Past William & Mary, 191.05-189.6

WILLIAMSBURG, VA (Jan. 29) -- Sophomore Devin McCalla (Dallas, TX) scored 38.325 to claim first place as the George Washington University women's gymnastics team defeated William & Mary, 191.05-198.6 Saturday afternoon in Williamsburg.

McCalla tied for second in the floor exercise (9.700), placed second in the beam (9.750), claimed third place in the vault (9.675) and finished ninth in the bars (9.200).

Junior Darden Wilee (Chesapeake, VA) claimed third in the competition after finishing third in the beam (9.725), fourth in the floor exercise (9.675), tied for seventh in the vault (9.450) and placed 12th in the bars (8.950) for an all-around score of 37.800.

Brandee Gound of W&M claimed second place with an all-around score of 37.950.

Freshman Kacey Coyne (McLean, VA) tied for first place with the Tribe's Jessica Dancu with a 9.700 in the vault. Freshman Melissa Suter (Chesapeake, VA) won the bars with a 9.675 and Coyne placed second with a 9.650.

Freshman Christy Gerard (Heath, TX)won the beam with a 9.800, with McCalla second (9.750) and Wilee third (9.725).

The Colonials return to action Monday, Feb. 7, with a 7:00pm meet at home in Smith Center against Maryland.
