Gymnastics' Bree Plotsker Named EAGL Rookie of the Week

Jan. 31, 2006

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University freshman Bree Plotsker (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) has been voted the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Plotsker, who becomes just the second Colonial to earn EAGL Rookie of the Week honors since GW joined the league last year, was the Colonials' second-best performer on both uneven bars and floor in their victory at William & Mary on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Plotsker recorded scores of 9.7 on both uneven bars and in the floor exercise, while posting a mark of 8.8 on beam to help GW top William & Mary, 189.700-188.875, for its fifth victory of the season. Her performances on uneven bars and floor were both season-high marks.

In the Colonials' first meet of the season at their home GW Invitational on Jan. 12, Plotsker also competed on bars, beam and floor to help GW finish runner-up with a score 189.500. She was the squad's top performer on beam with a 9.675.

GW (5-1) is back in action when it travels to Morgantown, WV, on Sunday, Feb. 5 for a meet hosted by EAGL member West Virginia featuring the Colonials, Ohio State and Iowa. The event is set to begin at 1 p.m.
