Gymnastics' 192.500 Good For Second at New Hampshire Invitational

DURHAM, NH (Feb. 12, 2000) - GW captured the beam with a team score of 48.850 on the strength of sophomore Devin McCalla's 9.875 in the event as the Colonials amassed a 192.500 overall score and placed second in the four-team New Hampshire Invitational Saturday at Durham, NH.

The host Wildcats won the meet with a score of 194.600 followed by GW which squeaked by Bowling Green State's 192.475. Maryland, which outscored GW in a dual meet at Smith Center five days ago, was fourth with a 191.925.

McCalla also posted the highest all-around total of 39.225 to edge Bowling Green's Marny Oestreng (39.050) and New Hampshire's Suzanne Poretz (39.025).

GW sophomore Jessica Mantak totaled 38.275 in the all-around while junior Darden Wilee posted a 38.125.

GW's effort was further highlighted by junior Stephanie Goldsmith's 9.8 in the floor exercise and Mantak's 9.85 on the beam.

The Colonials next compete in the Towson Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 20 at Towson, MD, before hosting James Madison on Friday, Feb. 25 at Smith Center.
