Gymnastics Captures Towson Invitational

TOWSON, MD (Feb. 20) - GW's Devin McCalla again showed why she's one of the most dominant gymnasts in the region by taking the all-around honors in the Towson Invitational with a school record score of 39.425. Her effort propelled GW to the team title with a 194.375 to win the six-team meet Sunday afternoon at Towson University.

The sophomore from Dallas, TX, won the balance beam with a score of 9.850 and she won the uneven parallel bars with a 9.925, the second-highest score in GW history. McCalla, the 1999 A-10 Rookie Performer of the Year, also was second on the floor exercise with a score of 9.950 which tied the school record set in 1998.

McCalla tied for seventh in the vault with a 9.700.

GW sophomore Jessica Mantak placed sixth in the all-around with a score of 38.235.

The Colonials host James Madison Friday, Feb. 25 in a 7:00 p.m. meet at Smith Center.
