WASHINGTON - The George Washington gymnastics team closes out the 2014 regular season by visiting Towson on Friday night for a dual meet at 7:00 p.m. before hosting the Tigers and Yale on Sunday afternoon for Senior Day at the Charles E. Smith Center at 1:00 p.m.

GW has eclipsed a team score of 195.00 in each of its last two meets, highlighted by a 195.650 at its last home meet on March 3. The Colonials have also set season-high marks on balance beam (48.625) and floor exercise (49.175) in their past two outings.

Freshman Chelsea Raineri enters the final week of competition ranked second in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) on vault, with a regional qualifying score (RQS) of 9.880. Her average routine of 9.875 is best in the conference and she has scored 9.875 or better six times this season.

Senior Kiera Kenney is ranked second in the EAGL on the uneven bars with a RQS of 9.830 while her average score of 9.742 per routine ranks third overall in the conference.

As a team, the Colonials rank second in the EAGL on vault (48.950 RQS) and third on uneven bars (48.715 RQS).

On Sunday, the Colonials will honor seniors Kenney, Betsy Zander, Kayla Carto, Sara Halliburton, Brittany Doran and Taylor Henderson along with team managers Tara Rosenberg and Katrina Hufnagel for their years of dedication to the gymnastics program.

 

 

GW will compete at the EAGL Championships on March 22 at New Hampshire's Whittemore Center.
