GW Gymnastics Places 14 on EAGL All-Academic Team

Brittany Burnham was named to the EAGL All-Academic Team for the fourth year in a row.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Fourteen George Washington gymnasts were named to the 2012 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) All-Academic Team the league office announced on Monday.

The 14 GW gymnasts to earn All-Academic status trails only the 15 honorees from Rutgers and New Hampshire among EAGL member institutions.

In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Freshmen are eligible if they earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.

Senior Brittany Burnham headlines the Colonials' honorees with her fourth consecutive All-Academic Team selection. Sophomores Brittany Doran and Sara Halliburton earned consecutive honors after receiving recognition as freshmen in 2011.

The University of Pittsburgh will play host to the 2012 EAGL Championship this Saturday, March 24, at 2 p.m., at the Fitzgerald Field House, in Pittsburgh, Pa. All-Conference awards will be presented to the honorees at the championship banquet this Friday, March 23, in Pittsburgh.
