Leslie Delima Named EAGL Rookie of the Week

March 25, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC - The East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) announced today that George Washington University freshman gymnast Leslie Delima (Virginia Beach, VA) has been named the EAGL Rookie of the Week. This is the first weekly EAGL award received by Delima in her career.

Delima had a career night in the Colonials head-to-head matchup at Towson last Friday, where she set or matched personal marks in all-around, bars, beam and floor exercise. The rookie won the all-around with a career-high 38.950. In addition, Delima also won the balance beam with a new personal-best of 9.850, and tied for second on floor exercise with a career-high 9.825. Delima also matched her career mark on bars with a 9.725 and recorded a 9.550 on vault.

In the final week leading up to the EAGL Championships on Sat., March 29 in Morgantown, WV, the Colonials jumped over Maryland in the EAGL standings as GW hopes to return to NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2002.
