Gymnastics' Mann To Compete in the All-Around at the NCAA Southeast Regional

April 10, 2003

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington Gymnastics stand-out, junior Rachel Mann (Atlanta, GA/Lakeside), will be competing in the all-around at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Athens, GA on Saturday, April 12. Mann traveled with the GW squad to the NCAA Regionals last season taking 14th on the uneven bars and 15th on the floor exercise.

Mann has been very successful in the all-around this season, winning five titles. She set a season and career high versus William & Mary on March 13, 2003 with a 39.325 and broke 39 on three other occasions.

Her best event on the season has been the floor exercise where she averaged a 9.866 on the season and had a high of 9.950. She has also been solid on the uneven bars averaging 9.709, while establishing a high of 9.850. Mann has been up and down on the vault and balance beam but is capable of putting up solid scores in each event as is shown by her 9.775 career high on vault and 9.850 career high on beam.

Junior Lindsay Parks (Council Bluffs, IA/Abraham Lincoln) and freshman Tiffany Jones (Ravenna, OH/Walsh Jesuit) were both selected as alternates for the meet, Parks in the vault and Jones on the uneven bars.

GW, as a team, just barely missed going to the Regional, so Mann will rotate with host Georgia. In order to see Mann's progress on Saturday, go to http://georgiadogs.ocsn.com for live scoring.
