Eight Gymnasts Named NACGC/W Scholastic All-America

WASHINGTON - Eight George Washington gymnasts have been named 2017 Scholastic All-Americans by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGC/W), the organization announced this week.

Individuals must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 to earn Scholastic All-America honors.

Amongst GW's eight honorees was a quintet of repeat recipients. Recent graduate Kaila Solomon (3.71, Political Science), along with rising seniors Cami Drouin-Allaire (3.61, Biology), Sara Mermelstein (3.93, Biology), Liz Pfeiler (3.63, Biology) and Jillian Winstanley (3.85, Finance) were all honored for the third consecutive year for outstanding academic achievement.

They were joined by two-time honoree and recent graduate Kaitlin Cowles (3.62, Chemistry) as well as first-time honorees in rising sophomore Ryan Finkelstein (3.65, Pre-Arts & Sciences) and rising junior Yurina Harada (3.50, Accounting).

As a team, the Colonials ranked 37th overall in the nation with a team cumulative GPA of 3.35 and had the third-most honorees amongst teams in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL).

All eight student-athletes were also honored on the All-EAGL Scholastic Team in the spring.
