Colonials Tally Four Second-Half Goal Against Dragons

PHILADELPHIA - George Washington lacrosse fell at Drexel, 12-7, on Sunday afternoon in the Colonials' first road contest of the 2014 season at the Dragons' Vidas Field.
GW (1-1) took a 2-1 lead over the Dragons (1-0) in the first half after junior Jamie Bumgardner assisted classmate Allie Rash's goal, then tallied an unassisted goal of her own for her second of a team-high five points on two goals and three assists. Drexel answered back with two goals to make it 3-2 at 21:05 and never looked back.
Bumgardner assisted senior Terasa Vassalo's goal in the 27th minute, but the Colonials trailed 6-3 at the break.
Drexel scored three straight tallies to open the second frame before sophomore Julia Lawson pulled GW within 9-4 at 17:15 on an unassisted goal. GW and Drexel traded scores for the remainder of the frame as Lawson, Rash, Bumgardner and classmate Casey Dell'Isola each found the back of the net to help the Colonials.
The Dragons' Amanda Norcini and Kelly Palace combined for nine goals in Drexel's victory and goalkeeper Teresha Bradley set aside five shots. Junior Mackenzie Jones made six saves between the pipes for GW.
GW returns to action at home on Wednesday, Feb. 26 against Liberty at 3:30 p.m.
