WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University (1-2) used an 11-4 first half lead to carry them to a 15-8 victory over Mount Saint Mary's (1-4) Monday afternoon at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.

GW jumped out to a 7-0 advantage less than halfway through the first half and never looked back.

Senior Annie Howley (Levittown, NY / Wantagh / Maryland) and junior Laura Hostetler (Ellicott City, MD / River Hill) each scored three goals in the Colonials' first win of the season.

Overall, eight different Colonials scored in the match including senior Collen Schmidt (Wantagh, NY / Wantagh), sophomore Kristin Karcsh (Kennett Square, PA / Bishop Shanahan) and freshman Katherine Sampson (Larchmont, NY / Mamaroneck) - who each notched two goals.

Senior Lauren Reymann and junior Casey Paris both recorded two goals for the Mounts.

GW returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Fairfax, VA, to square off against George Mason University.

Game time is 4:00 pm.
