RICHMOND – The George Washington lacrosse team dropped only its third contest of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling to Richmond, 14-3, at Robins Stadium.

The Spiders came out hot to start the first half, scoring three quick goals to establish an early 3-0 lead. The Colonials fought back, with senior Camaryn Kerns finding a feed from sophomore Katie Quinn to get on the board, but Richmond continued to push on attack and went on a 4-0 run. GW responded with back-to-back goals from senior co-captain Jocelyn Donohue and Kerns, but the Spiders scored three more times to go into the break with a 10-3 lead.

Richmond continued its run into the second half, scoring first at the 22:47 mark. The Colonials' defense attempted to contain the surging Spiders, but they scored three more times while holding GW scoreless in the game’s second stanza to take the 14-3 decision.


  • Freshman Abby Carlin led the Colonials off the draw by snagging four from the circle. The midfielder also paced the team with five draw controls on Friday against La Salle and has tallied 27 on the season.

  • Kerns led the Colonials on the offensive end with a pair of goals while Donohue scored one. The senior duo tops the team on attack, with Donohue ranking first on the squad with 36 points (33g, 3a) and Kerns following closely behind with 29 points (27g, 2a).

  • Three different Colonials recorded an assist in today’s matchup, with freshman Ioanna Mantzouratos, Quinn, and sophomore Morgan McDonnell each registering one apiece.

  • Richmond just edged the Colonials off the draw (10-9), and held an advantage in shots (35-13) and ground balls (24-9).
  • LOOK AHEAD: The Colonials will make the trip back down to Richmond on Friday to face VCU for a 5 p.m. draw.
