Colonials Suffer Spiders' Bite, Lacrosse Falls 18-5

April 17, 2003

RICHMOND, VA - George Washington fell behind early as Richmond scored seven unanswered goals to open the match, and the Spiders handed the Colonials an 18-5 loss.

GW (6-7, 1-5) struggled to score in the first half, as UR (8-6, 3-2) rolled up a 10-goal lead by halftime, holding an 11-1 edge by the break. The Colonials' lone score was recorded by Meghan McDonough as the sophomore broke the Spiders' run of seven scores in the 22nd minute of play.

Sophomore Jamie Lee scored just ten seconds into the second half to get GW started on right foot. However, Richmond would respond with four-straight scores to put the Spiders ahead 15-2. Lee would add two more scores in the balance of the half, and Erin Berry would score in the closing seconds, as the Colonials suffered their fifth loss in conference play.

GW returns to action on Tuesday, April 22, versus Lehigh at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex in a 3:30 p.m. match.
