AMHERST, MASS. -- Jocelyn Donohue netted a hat trick while three teammates chipped in two goals apiece but the GW lacrosse team fell to Massachusetts in its penultimate regular season game, 19-9, Friday afternoon at Garber Field.

Bailey Forcier and Michaela Lynch each had four points on the day, with both contributing two goals and two assists, while Cassidy Shollenberger also had two goals on the afternoon. UMass was led by Hannah Burnett and Callie Santos who scored four goals apiece.

GW (2-12, 1-6 A-10) held an early 1-0 lead in the opening two minutes when Forcier netted her 12th goal of the season to put the Colonials on the board. Winners of 52 straight Atlantic 10 games and seven straight A-10 titles, the Minutewomen (12-3, 7-0 A-10) responded with seven in a row before Shollenberger took a pass from Forcier to spark the GW offense. Donohue found the back of the net twice in a five minute span, cutting the UMass lead to four with 13:50 to play. The two teams continued to trade goals for the reminder of the half, but the Minutewomen scored twice more in the final two minutes of the first to lead 13-7 at the break.

In the second half, UMass continued to control the tempo and limited the Colonials to a pair of goals scored by Shollenberger and Lynch.

Junior keeper Adele Wise matched a season-high with 12 saves in between the pipes, while Massachusetts’ Lauren Hiller stopped four shots in the crease.
