2013 Practice Underway for GW Lacrosse
Colonials Open Season at District Foe Howard on Feb. 13
Jan. 14, 2013
WASHINGTON - The George Washington lacrosse team began preparations for its 2013 campaign with its first practice on Saturday afternoon at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The Colonials returned to the field following a fall season where the team got a chance to play together in multiple exhibition contests. GW kicks off the 2013 schedule at district foe Howard on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.
"It feels really good to be back on the field and working together as a team," said sixth-year head coach Tara Hannaford. "We have a young team this year, but a lot of great leadership. We are looking forward to getting the season going and proving ourselves on the field."
GW returns 15 players from a 2012 squad that produced a 10-7 overall record - marking the most wins in a season since 2007 - and a 4-3 record in the Atlantic 10. The Colonials also welcome eight newcomers to the squad as they look to return to the A-10 Championship for the second time in as many years.
