NEWPORT NEWS, VA - George Washington women's lacrosse junior midfielder Hilary Quinn earned the first Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week award of the 2011 season, the league announced Monday.

Quinn won a league-high 11 ground balls and added five draws and two caused turnovers in GW's 1-1 week.

The Manhasset, NY, native grabbed five ground balls, three draws and caused a pair of turnovers in Wednesday's 21-3 rout of Howard. She then secured a game-high six ground balls during Saturday's 14-9 loss against Drexel.

GW (1-1) returns to action Wednesday at city rival American at 3:00 pm.
