Seidman Named A-10 Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
March 23, 2009
PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington women's lacrosse freshman attacker Megan Seidman was chosen Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week Monday following her career-best outing at Johns Hopkins Thursday. Seidman scored the Colonials' final five goals of regulation, including tallies with 8:01 and 3:08 remaining in the second half to force overtime, in a 13-12 loss to the Blue Jays Thursday. Seidman's career-high five goals marked the most for a GW rookie since Taylor Donohue netted five in an A-10 Championship semifinal victory over St. Bonaventure in May 2007. Donohue matched a school record with five assists against Hopkins Thursday. It was also the Colonials' first A-10 Rookie of the Week honor since Donohue received the award in April 2007. After totaling three goals in GW's first eight games, Seidman now ranks fourth on the team and leads this season's rookie class with eight goals. The Colonials host a pair of A-10 Conference matches at Mount Vernon Field this weekend. GW (1-8) faces Duquesne Friday at 3:30 pm, and St. Bonaventure Sunday at 12:00 pm.
